Sustainability 101 - Creating the Common Language

Sustainability consultants from The Natural Step Canada office will be working with the Choosing Our Future team to help all participants build a shared understanding of and language for sustainability. The Natural Step is a registered charity with a proven track record in strategic sustainability planning. They provide education, training, coaching and advice to leaders and decision-makers on how to integrate economic, environmental and social priorities into their decision-making and planning. Activities will develop to ensure that Choosing our Future is based on:

• A clear, compelling, science-based definition of sustainability
• A set of tools for understanding systems, identifying the root causes of un-sustainability and developing integrated solutions
• A practical strategic planning framework that will help us make smart economic decisions while moving toward our sustainability objectives
• A commitment to authentic community engagement and collaboration.
